Four years in UK consultancy delivering preliminary ecological appraisals, bat activity and emergence surveys, badger sett monitoring and protected species reporting. Experience includes QGIS mapping, Extended habitat survey write-ups and client liaison on planning submissions across residential and infrastructure sites. MSc in Biology covering sensory biology, ecology and entomology, with field and lab experience in eDNA sampling, plus statistical analysis and coding in R and MATLAB for behavioural biology and animal tracking research. Having been frustrated having to do repetitive administrative tasks such as writing habitat connectivity paragraphs, going through hundreds of protected species records and reviewing endless hours of bat footage, I decided to make tools to solve these issues.

Ecorva is built by practising ecologists who hold CIEEM membership and still do survey and reporting work. Every feature starts from a job we have personally had to deliver: a full bat assessment, PEAs, PRAs, EcIA. If there is an acronym for it, we have done it. We have been daunted by the prospect of sifting through thousands of species records to ensure we provide the best safeguards and mitigations for species, and of clicking our way through MAGIC for habitat connectivity assessments. When something in the app does not match how a real survey season runs, we know because we are the ones filing the report.

No. The species app and habitat app are deterministic and do not use an AI model. The bat detection pipeline uses a small, powerful, offline model and runs completely locally on your device. No big data centres. The tools draft repeatable structure, species tables, formatting and leave interpretation to you, the ecologist. You review, edit and sign off every line. We call this ecologist in the loop, and it is a hard design rule rather than a marketing phrase.

All protected species locations stays locally on your machine, we never will use the data to train, sell or even store with third-party services and access is scoped to your organisation.

Because you get direct influence over the roadmap and pricing that reflects the stage we are at. Founder partners talk to us weekly, get features built against their own templates, and keep everything they produce whether or not they continue. We would rather be honest about being early than invent a customer list we do not have.

That is the intention. Outputs export to editable documents so they drop into your house style and internal review chain rather than replacing it. During onboarding we work from your existing report templates and terminology. If a workflow cannot be matched, we will say so up front instead of asking you to change how your team already works.
